    BP Disaster Coverage

A lot of people have been sharing these videos around the interwebs, and I'm truly grateful for that as this is a subject that's near and dear to my heart for various reasons. I figured I should do the same here on my ghost-town of a blog. Why not place some multimedia here, right between the bleached cow-skull and digital tumbleweeds?

I will likely be doing a write-up or videocast soon to address the questions, concerns and criticisms raised by these videos; as well as hopefully offer a little more insight regarding what I saw down in Louisiana and how it has permanently changed me. Again, I thank you all for your time.

Yes great job Kevin, after watching this BP disaster coverage it brought me to tears. I'm actually going to go down to Louisiana myself and help with a couple of friends, hopefully you can go back again and help!

I'm glad to see the effort you're making to get the word out and get young people motivated. Please keep up the great work.

What do you think about all the details coming out?
About Geologists warning BP not to drill there because it was unstable? And BP ignoring multiple warnings?
About BP taking the cost effective route rather then the best procedures multiple times while drilling?
And now the purported Methane pocket that is 10-20 miles in size and the fissures starting to appear in the ocean floor? And if the Methane escapes how it could cause tsunamis?
I've also been seeing people with experience in drilling mentioning that the two side lines they are currently drilling is also the worst choice yet again.
And although I do not know if it is true or not, but that the oil could pour into the gulf for YEARS.

    Kevin,
I have to say that was one of the better pieces of work on the spill. Not because of the honesty; mainly because of who you are. You're accessible to us, your viewers and fans. You're a nerd. The way you presented this was perfect, and the people you interviewed were very honest. Those are the men and women I want to hear from. Also, somehow, my brain circuits never registered that tourism dollars to that region would be beneficial. That's a great idea that you should try to make into a campaign, as long as there are no consequences with the day job.
I live in South Florida, around Ft. Lauderdale, and it's hurricane season my man. I'd say you should also take a look into that, as there is always heavy activity in the gulf waters. That would be a good insight for another piece. I'll do my part to keep it all alive.

    Thanks chief,
    Dave

Thank you, That was an amazing job you did. It really makes me want to go down there and help as best I can. I know AOTS is not usually seriouse like this, but I always hoped that it could be. Someone like you could really reach people and motivate them to act. I look forward to more stories like this that make a difference.

Glad to see the blog in use again and for a great cause. We at Squarespace are trying to do our part too at Kill The Spill.

We've teamed up with with three wonderful companies, Metalab, Campaign Monitor, and Woo!Themes to raise money to help clean the animals who have been affected by the spill. Every penny will be donated to the National Wildlife Federation and we four companies will be matching donations up to $35,000.

If you can't contribute, you can still help by spreading the word. Follow @killspillorg and tweet:

We can clean up BP's mess. Help clean the animals affected by their spill. Donations matched to 35k. @killspillorg http://killspill.org

These animals aren't going to clean themselves. We need to do something to help.

    Kevin,
This was probably one of the best BP Video's out there. You realy showed everyone who watches AOTS what is going on down there and you gave us the ugly truth, and although it isn't something I want to hear, it's what is needed to be heard. Thank you for posting this, and thank you for going to Louisiana and helping clean up the spill. You have definitely given me some courage and I hope to be more like you now. You should share this with big news companies and such, to get the word out, the news sucks.

Great work. Very professional and it's great to see AOTS and you personally, tackling an important issue. Very sad about the animals.

    KP,

I know I'm a bit late on viewing this piece, but I have to say, you earned mad respect from me as a journalist and truth-seeker with this documentary. Often, celebrities are seen dumping money but never kicking off their shoes and getting dirty. It also makes me feel good to see your direct questioning of your various interview subjects. You called it how you saw it and were clear and concise with your own feedback to BP reps.

Mad respect and much love man! I'll support all of your endeavors for life homeboy!!!

Kevin thank you so much for your excellent and thoughtful reporting on the BP spill. Living on the upper TX coast, sport fishing (mostly catch & release) has been a huge part of my life and one of the things I most enjoy. Fishing is not just about the fish you catch, but also the other creatures and environment. It is sickening how the Gulf is used as a sewer.

    Always a huge fan

thanks for this. This is truly awful. Thanks for bringing attention to this, in this manner. I'm afraid its falling of the radar for so many people.

On a lighter note, you might enjoy this clip about Steve Jobs' "simple solution" to the crisis.
