Dear California, Vote NO on Proposition 8!
Lordy! Someone stop me! Whatever happened to rants about the TSA or video game reviews? What happened to this wonderful little blog? My little, peaceful, politics-free slice of the Internet? I know, I know. But tough.
Here are some great videos from the "I couldn't have said it better myself, so I'm not going to bother trying" file:
Just doing my part to reach the, up to, three fans in California who actually read my personal blog. Thanks for your time.

oh and I also wanted to say...you are born gay, it is not a choice. Everyone has gay and lesbian tendencies, there are different degree's of homosexuality. Who cares if this is taught in schools? Kids do not know what they want already...they're not going to commit to being gay at such a young age. If anything, kids who are confused should be taught about homosexuality, and known that it is okay.
What is worse? Having a confused child who gets into a loveless marriage for the parents happiness...or a child who can act on what they want and find happiness and may or may not turn out gay or lesbian?
Thank you Kevin for a wonderful post. I would like to say I sat through the entire video that 'concerned' suggested and my brain is in physical pain from the logic that was used. It is NOT secular at all. It is a fear-mongering speech about a supposedly "secular" argument that those religious people who are opposed to gay marriage (because not all religious people are opposed to it) can say to make people believe what they believe. It leads with an example that if gay marriage is allowed, then roughly 2% of gay people will get married and then unwed pregnancy jumps 46%. WHAT?! How the hell do you jump from the homosexual people getting married to heterosexual people having kids before marriage?! And it acts like the fact that not all gay people want to get married is a reason to prevent them from getting married at all. Not all heterosexual couples get married either. The last portion of the video is dedicated to fear-mongering saying that religious people or schools will be targeted with lawsuits and this is the plan of "them" and the man cites examples of some lawsuits. Granted, there may be some lawsuits that will be frivolous but that has nothing to do with gay people. There are dumbasses all over this country that are abusing the legal system. Some of those dumbasses are going to be gay just like some of them won't be. The man uses the argument that it is his free speech that they are trying to take away from him when he speaks of his opposition to gay people. Not really, sir. It is just the other person's right to free speech to tell you you are a bigot. Yes there are stupid people on both sides that do try to stomp all over the other but that is not something that anyone should condone. That's the whole point. If you do watch that video, please understand it is not from an unbiased, scientific perspective as it claims.
How is banning gay people from getting married any different from banning interracial couples years ago? How does it affect what "marriage" means? Homosexuality is something that can be difficult for some people to understand and therefore it gets rejected. It's the same as all of the ignorant stereotypes that people buy into about any group. It is spawned from a lack of understanding and compassion. It is not better to say "let them have civil unions but not marriages." How does that make sense? What is it that they think "marriage" means and how will that be somehow changed? In the end it seems like one part of their mind knows that they should have those rights but the part they have been taught previously disagrees. It's like the old "separate but equal" policy. Or the excuse, "Well, that's just how he/she was raised" in defense of racism in older people. "It was a different time then." We all have our own minds. We all have the ability to question what we have been taught and to decide for ourselves. And for those that feel like they might be betraying their religious beliefs, is it really? I am not disrespecting the religions if I say that perhaps a literal following of "the rules" (which are debatable and up to interpretation anyway) might just lead to confusion. People assign themselves to a certain belief, but in order to do so, they have to agree to reject anything that doesn't suit it from that point on. And when you look at the religious teachings of religions from all around the world you will see that the underlying message in all of them is exactly the same. Patience, love, and compassion for others. Rise above the misunderstandings between us to see that we are all the same. The specifics were meant to be a reminder of that message not the only thing people see and hear. That's where all the confusion and anger comes from. It's like thinking there is any difference between the races, the sexes, or people from different countries and cultures. There is NO difference. To discriminate against any group is not harming that group it is harming humanity. Racism is not a racial tragedy afforded to those who are the victims of it. It is a HUMAN tragedy that haunts us all and we are all responsible for what we put out into this world. Some people may not understand why or how some people are gay, they might be taught that it is wrong, but does that really mean we can legislate discrimination? Women haven't even had the right to vote for 90 years yet. Segregation between whites and blacks is even younger than that. Let's look past what some of us may have been taught previously and ask ourselves if we are allowing this same type of thing to happen now.
Kevin,
As a gay man residing in SoCal, I just want to thank you for this and your support on No on 8. You've made me a bigger fan of yours.
Also, I just want to say.. how is it that I'm gay and I think Olivia is still way hotter than you? I mean really . . . damn. ;P
Dude was that Molly Ringwald?
yea sooo... by the way. its MAM. thanks. and i would hardly call myself an idiot. and i never said everyone has to be religious... i just said i would vote yes. and i'm also pretty sure i mentioned polygamy to prove a point. and if i have a child who is gay i'll have no problem. thank you for worrying.
vote yes to prop 8 those butt pirates need to be stopped, just not the carpet munchers they are ok, well when they are both hot
I really hope 'big billy g' was joking
if not...that is the kind of comment that anyone would expect from a heterosexual moron...haha I clicked on your website too, don't worry, none of the gay community is going to be hassling you
Way to stand up for this...we have the same prop in Arizona except it's prop 102...The sad thing is the only ads I've seen here in Northern AZ is the "vote yes on Prop 102" ads. This state is so one sided...pfft! I salute you Kevin Pereira!
it's not that your fans don't read your blog. It's just that olivia is drowning you out. Take a stand and slap her!! And then tell everyone how much better your blog is.
I do admit, I had used to be anti-gay, homophobic might one add, but until recent years, I have found out that was mostly due in part to my upbringing, and was very ashamed of thinking such thoughts. They are people, just like any other, black or white, nobody should care or think twice, as it is their life and their choice. Doing what they do has absolutely no effect on you. They do not try to "force" their views upon you, but in retrospect, many religious fanatics do.
I certainly would vote NO to this sad piece of "legislation"-notice how it is put in quotes, implying that it is sadly called such.
There is, however, an ironic set of information that we have learned about gays.
Homosexuality is, proven by recent scientific evidence, a hormonal imbalance, and can be recreated (or fixed) easily. While that's not to say that I imagine there are those among us that actually do choose whether or not they are, my opinion is that the majority of homosexuals are "born gay".
But the ironic part, is that science, once again, conflicts with religion.
Me, being a person who bases beliefs upon science, find it ironic that biblical terms, i.e. the Christian Bible deems it a sin to be homosexual. Yet, by the very foundation of intelligent design, seeing as every person is "created" by a "greater being", this would make the laws conflicting. If the Bible truly were to be written by the greater being "himself", why would "he" create someone(s) that conflict with "his" own laws?
Does this make any sense? Not in my mind, it's comparable to saying everyone that owns a red hat should be shot, and then me going out, and buying a red hat....
Thus we come to my conclusion wherein you will understand my conflictions with many varying religions.
Another evidential fact (in my opinion) is the overall diversity of religious beliefs, one believes that a jihad is the only way to salvation, another believes that there is no god. Another believes that there are many gods, and has many names for them.
I find religion to be an anomaly of our human mind, in an attempt to find "something" tangible.
Yet, my opinions themselves also conflict with, well, themselves.
One of the reasons I say the above, is it makes one (me) wonder why our body is built the way it is, why does it seem so perfect, we aren't one big blob with random vestigal structures sticking out. Why we have a bladder and do not simply urinate where ever we go. It seems that with vestigal, random, structures, it would certainly seem possible for them to get past evolution, and survive....
But, once again, these are merely my opinions and perspectives, I'm not forcing them on anybody, in any way.
Aahh<sigh>, the uncertainty of our perspective of the world around us...
Predator106
Exactly where did you hear that it was an imbalance and could be fixed...?
I'm in Australia and I read daily. Consider yourself an international cable television darling Kevin.
@ Curt : There was a scientific article less than a year, or a year back. It detailed an experimentation done on goats, or sheep I think it was the former, not sure. But anyways, I believe the experimentation went into detail about how they forced a goat to become gay, through hormonal injections, which it then created "homosexual acts". They could then reverse it, I believe from another injection. I do not have the link memorized/have it bookmarked :) so you could probably just use google to find it after a little while of searching.
Anyways, after the gay community found out about it being possible to reverse homosexuality, they began to get outraged, and other things to that degree. Basically, they [were/are?] afraid that parents would then begin using these "injections" as a preventive-maintenance type of thing, heh. A sort of guarantee that their sons will not be gay. Which, I suppose it should be the parent's right to choose to do so. I mean, in all fairness, you can't exactly advance the human race with same-sex relationships everywhere, but that case would only occur if there were very, very few "straight"-relationships, which I find extremely doubtful to ever happen. But if it is actually genetic, and would progressively become overwhelming, well then, we would certainly have to do something at some point.
I suppose, it could present a problem, especially if everybody started getting these injections for their children. That would certainly suck to be few of your kind in which case, limiting your chances of finding a "partner".
I doubt it's genetic, but could certainly be wrong.
And naturally, they did not try the experiment on humans, just because of the sheer outrage it would cause I suppose, not to mention it would probably have to be tested for years and years.
Get me some real facts and we'll talk.
Do you hear yourself referring to gay people 'your kind'?
There are dominant and recessive genes. Not everyone who has a gay gene will produce gay children. Not to mention that there are different degrees of being gay. Not everyone is exclusively for men or exclusively for women. In all honesty, the next generation is probably going to be mostly bisexual, people trying to figure out what they like without shame or guilt or hatred (hopefully.) And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.
Also, being that homosexuality has been around since the dawn of mankind...well, I don't think we're getting overwhelmed or have to 'do something about it'. I do think it is genetic, and I know for a fact it isn't a choice. I'm sorry but I'm not buying this 'chemical imbalance'.
As for injections in goats to hump another male goat. Dogs do it all the time, they're horny. I don't think that that would prove anything.
How close is the human DNA strand to a goats? What is the real basis of this test except for some sick scientist wanting to make some homosexual goats?
Well good news is that I'm a fa who lives in CA and I read your blog, and I know which way I'm voting on 8.
Bad news: I can neither confirm nor deny you have more than three or four fans in CA, but I can say that, as I said above, I'm one of the fans.
Hard to remain politically uncharged these days if you ask me, and hey, shouldn't we all exercise our right to vote? I was fortunate to have teachers make damned sure that my answer to that is yes.
If homosexuals are going to be able to get married and be equal to man and wife then straight people should be able to enter into domestic partnerships and have them legally recognized too.
And I know what's next...we're going to have to stop calling ourselves "straight" because that implies that gays are "crooked" or something.
Predator 106 has a lot of good points Curt.
On the science tip-
Its the BPA.
Any person with an IQ above 100 that has researched the latest studies and findings about this chemical will see that.
Plastic baby bottles and food containers took over the scene in the late 70's, early 80's replacing glass and metals and BPA became a regular part of our diets and the diets of our pregnant women exposing us to this estrogen mimicing chemical. We all thought plastics were safe, little did we know what we were consuming. The bottled water explosion didn't help at all either.
That's why there's been such a spike in gender confusion (masculine women and feminine men) and homosexuality rates these pass few decades. The BPA.
That's a theory worth considering. So for or all the gay people haters- some of them can't help it, kinda like a mental defect. For the gay people sick of arguing- you can really blame it on your mothers (and some grandmothers) consumption of bottled purified water and her choosing plastic baby bottles over the classic glass.
My snide opinion-
I still don't think homosexuality is normal no matter how many gay people angrily ask that dumb question "whath's normaaal?".
ALL YA'LL KNOW WHAT'S NORMAL AND WHAT DEVIANT!!!!!!!! Sodomy is a deviant act regardless of if being with a man or woman, it is not natural. If it were the rectum and anus would naturally produce a lubricating substance and booboo wouldn't stink. So for a group of people that CHOOSE to get sodomized or CHOOSE to sodomize a man to expect normal people to respect them and treat them as equals is INSANE.
Tidbit of hmmm-
I read that even some mammals in the animal kingdom have been known to have homosexual sex but humans are the only species to turn it into a lifestyle.
More of my snide opinion-
If gay men are allowed to marry maybe the HIV rates will go down. Just a thought. Probably not though because even married people stray and put themselves at risk for disease and spread stuff to other people.
Advice for the future gays of America-
And for all ya'll bi-curious guys out there considering putting yourselves out to expriement with some cute guy who's supposedly "never tried this before either" DON'T TRUST IT AND DON'T DO IT!!!! That's how a LOT of guys get there first dose of HIV. Get yourself a glass dildo and please yourself or find you a nice, decent lil' lady to strap it on and do you.
I can't believe AIDS is still killing gay men at these rates after all these years. We know how its spread and still it goes on and on? wow. And (yes I'm one of the few who think that bisexual men brought HIV to women in the 80's)
p.s. on a nuetral tip (to calm the infuraited down)
I learned a new word- "homeostasis". If you believe in global warming and agree that humans are the culprit that would be a smart move be the creator (or the universe, depending on what you believe) to make homosexuality more prevalent. Kinda' like population control. Same sex couples don't reproduce, do they?
All I have to say to you 'Ms. Bold, beautiful Guru' is that you're a disgusting human being and not even worth a second of my time.
I'm all for giving homosexuals equal rights, but I also think we should stop short of marriage. Calling someone "married" has always had religious implications, and it remains so to this day. All of the major religions think homosexuality is wrong, so letting homosexuals get married would only cause unnecessary strife. We should give homosexuals the exact same rights as married couples, but we should call their union "civil." I am a Christian, and the Bible clearly states that gay sex is wrong. I am also aware that we do not live in a theocracy, so all rights heterosexuals get should go to homosexuals as well.
I have no problem with homosexual couples and, like many Americans, am related to and friends with people who are homosexual. However, I don't think that my support of proposition 8 is a slight to them or makes me a bigot.
In CA, domestic partnerships are accorded almost all the same legal rights as marriages. I am glad that domestic partners enjoy the rights of our community property state (what's owned by one is really half owned by both), as well as enjoying many of the other legal rights of married couples.
However, I think my right as a parent trumps when it comes to prop 8. Schools teach sex ed in school, as they have for many years. When I was in school, this was taught in 5th grade. By 5th grade, children are better capable of understanding what is being taught. However, now even in kindergarten children will be taught about homosexual relationships as was done in MA. I do have a problem with that. I would not even talk to my 5 year old about heterosexual relationships, even though she witnesses them every day (her parents, grandparents, aunts/uncles, etc.). If she has friends in kindergarten who have 2 moms or 2 dads, then she can ask me about them and we can talk about it then. But I don't want it being taught in school, especially without my knowledge.
I support prop 8.
I can't believe I'm commenting here again haha.
I def agree that kids at that young of an age should not be taught about sexual education. I do think it isimportant that parents know and agree with the curiculum they're signing their children up for.
Yet if you are going to teach kids about sex, it is best to really teach them about it. Get them when they're 13 or 14. They need to know about anal sex, oral sex, vaginal intercourse, everything because otherwise they will figure things out for themselves.
Parents want sex ed taken out of schools curriculum but wonder why their children get STDs and get pregnant. It is a fantasy world parents live in where they think 9their babies are never ever going to grow up.
Schools of all places should be accepting of homosexuality. No one should feel like they're not part9 of the group or that its a choice. They should be taught to embrace it, to make their own safe and responsible decisions. Does this mean all kids are going to 9turn out perfect and accepting?
No, not gouing to happen. But it gives people a chance to be who they are and know that the way they feel inside, that the people they are attracted to is right. That they should feel no guilt and no shame for being themselves. It is better t live life as yourself, regardless of what it costs.
These are your children, what is more important...what they want for themselves or what you want for them? Kids who supress their feelings end up angry and resentful to everyone around them.
And as for marriage being religious, yes it can, and gay marriage will not affect any religions who reject it. Gay people just want equality, seperate is not equal. Telling us we have the same rights but its called something else is the same as saying you can drink from a water fountain, just not the one for straight people, drink out of the gay people one.
Marriage has to do with state laws, there is a seperation between church and state. That is the bottom line, its anyones rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
Marriage cannot be based on religious beliefs and still be following the seperation of church and state.
Haha this is the first one of kevins blogs I've posted on and its gone off on a tangent, this is nuts.
Awwww, lighten up Curt!
Truth hurts sometimes.
I guess it's human nature to get defensive when somebody pops our bubbles.
I'm a African American female and I know a lot of the things "they" say about black people is true sometimes but we still get mad when an outsiders says it.
I guess some gay people are like that too. I'm guessing you're homosexual if anything I wrote offended you. Either that or you're into creationism and not digging my homeostasis theory!
Here's my thesis:
WARNING-STEROTYPES UTILIZED
-Global warming is real no matter what Penn and Teller told you.
-Humans are the main cause of it.
-Earth is the perfect "home" for humans for the most part (outside of the occasional natural disaster here and there).
-The Christians' God that flooded out mankind back then promised not to do THAT again. (Didn't promise not to anhihalate us in a different way though)
-If gender confusion and homosexuality (be it natural or due to "environmentmental factors"-consumption of toxic chemicals seaping from plastic containers and non-stick cookware for example) rates continue to increase and gay becomes the norm, human reproduction rates slow down and earth will have time to heal. (which is a good thing for mankind in general)
-It's mostly gay people living green, driving Priuses, and keeping their communities aesthetically pleasing, so if they "take over" the planet the [eco]system will REGAIN the BALANCE (which is what homeostasis is all about-a system making changes within itself to balance itself back out) loss over the past few centuries of trifling, ingrateful straight people were ruling and reproducing and passing our raggedy ways on to our children who in turn keep the abuse going...until one of them turns out to be gay and snaps out of it and goes green.
-Gay people may just be earth's angels.
Homosexuals are definitely the "3rd kind"! Not aliens, just a much needed curve away from the "normal" heterosexual female and male homposepians that have been ruling for centuries and running the planet to shambles.
People say God don't make no mistakes. So what if people think of ya'll ask freaks of nature... sometimes that's what it takes.
I'm sorry you don't like my homeostasis and BPA thesis Curt. What a shame. You're too sensitive. GIRLIE MAN!!! Hahahahaaha!!! oh, I shouldn't play with Curt, he's sennnsitive.
And the word "deviant" stinged your eyes didn't it.
If cavemen were homosexuals we wouldn't be here. True o no? Ya sabes la verdad...
Aaaand...
people please practice safe sex whatever urges you act out on. Don't let your carnal desires lead you to an untimely demise. I'm serious about that.
More opinion...
I really hate HIV and AIDS a lot. Not the people that are afflicted, the disease itself. I do feel that certain sex acts (bareback sodomy) and self abuse (e.i. sharing needles during intravenious drug use) GREATLY increase peoples chances of acquiring viruses and I fail to understand why HIV is still sooo rampant in certain communities when we know how NOT to get it. Maybe more people need to share TRUTH and knowledge instead of just accepting certain things as givens. Don't get caught up in the pride hustle. People get so enthusiastic and "proud" that they neglect to keep it real and teach the youth that are choosing similiar lifestyles that HIV doesn't have to be a part of their gay lifestyle and future, no many how many of their peers are infected. That's what gay people need to be focused on- how to stop HIV in its tracks instead of trying to make people accept their CHOICES as normal.
Its going to take some time. Maybe a lot.
Until then ya'll keep on serving your purposes during ya'll time here on spaceship earth.
An idea...
A while back some gangsters got sick of losing their loved ones to gun violence, the #1 killer of their community, so they tried a peace treaty. A seize fire. I think if the homosexual community tried a "No Bareback Sodomy" campaign we would see a massive decline of new HIV infections and AIDS related deaths in that particular community. Hate it or love, you know I'm right. All ya'll mad at me right now know I'm right. If ya'll decide to give it a shot start in Long Beach the teens down there really need some guidance.
Believe it or not I really do care.
I'm just shocked that the pride movement has taken precidence behavior modification.
p.s.~ you know you love to hate me Curt! You are going to read every drip of word that I drop!
THanks for the web time Kev.
peace.
Thanks for posting that Kevin. Even though I don't live in Cali I can still appreciate the gesture!

For all the Bible thumpers having a hard time dealing with the "gay agenda"...
read and meditate on Revelations 22:11.
If prop.8 passes,which it will,
don't declare yourself a stateless resident. What is meant to be shall be and there's an appointed time for everything under the sun. We will all have our turn to account for the lives we led. Let them marry and make it official. No one can deny what's documented. Not in this world or on Judgement Day.
I have spoken.
-Correction-
I mean if it doesn't pass.
I have spoken again.
