    Too Human: Screw the Haters

Here's to some late night whining! Enjoy this one-take-grammar-hacked emotional roller coaster. Also, come on Gamespot.

Too Human: Screw the HatersMy two pennies concerning the negative reviews Too Human has been receiving. Relax: The game is FUN!

Too Human Rocks. Screw the haters.

Listen, it may not be the most innovative game ever. And it may have some serious issues with storytelling and an at times deplorable user interface. And it may even be downright buggy at times; hell, I had to restart an online game four times tonight because of major sound glitches, and because I Superman 64'ed and clipped right through the floor into an infinite black void...

BUT THE GAME IS FUCKING FUN!

Come on major-jaded-gaming-review-sites! Kick back with a buddy, slaughter hordes of enemies while fiending for the next level up in skills or accessories, and let your subwoofer shake the walls off your pad as you hop on the back of giant mechanical beasties and plunge your sword right into their heads. Tell me that's not entertaining! I'm willing to overlook some lackluster boss-battles thus far, and certain sloppy design decisions that lead to needlessly repetitive actions, because the core gameplay makes you feel like an absolute bad ass. And THAT is what this type of game is all about. Bad-assness, and loot. Too Human has both.

This game is not a 5.5, Gamespot. A five point five is a game that boots, has a working title screen and  with any luck the pistols go "pew". You're completely ignoring

    Saturday Gaming Fix!

    Red Faction: Guerrilla

Steve hooked me up with an invite key for the Xbox360 beta of Red Faction. I like it. The powerups are great fun; from Jetpacks to a "Rhino" pack that lets you bulldoze your way through enemies and entire structures. The maps are easy to learn, the game modes are solid, the graphics are serviceable and at times Keanu "whoa" inducing. The weapons need a bit more "oomph" and better hit-feedback would be nice. Overall, I'm sure the retail game will be fun, but I worry it won't have the legs to be worth a sixty-dollar investment. And, if I may, I know it's a beta... I'm sure the netcode will get more tweaking before it goes gold... but I'm SO sick and tired of lag during online games! Figure it out already. QuakeWorld could handle 32 players with relative ease over ten years ago. It's frustrating, especially when I'm PAYING for Xbox Live. I love ya, I TRULY do, but Microsoft: HOST SOME DAMN DEDICATED SERVERS ALREADY!

    Braid:

Who cares if it's a bit pretentious, I finally beat Braid today and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it; including the minutes spent staring at a particular puzzle and cursing my television because I was too stupid to get it instantly. Puzzle solving fun a la Portal in terms of unique challenges and fun mechanics. It should be ten bucks, instead of fifteen, but it's still gorgeous and recommended even at that price-point. One of the best Live Arcade games to date, despite some terrible sound effect choices. I'm sorry, those feral cat screeching bunnies were ear piercingly out of place (even if the audible clash was intended, it still sucks), and the constant drone of cannon-fire during some puzzles made me mute the television. Still, an 'A' game for certain.

    PixelJunk Eden:

I LOVE Q-Games. Love, love, love 'em. Calling me a fanboy is the greatest understatement since the dawn of man. PixelJunk Eden is no exception. Granted, I'm passing judgement and I've only completed the first garden, but damn is this good trippy fun. Great soundtrack, fluid controls, typical Q-goodness. Swinging from plant to plant feels poetic at times. Although, I wish developers would just let go of the Six Axis crap already. I have yet to find one good implication of the PS3's motion sensing abilities. Having to thrust the controller during this game to force the character to drop instantly feels violently out of place. Minor gripe. I'm about to go back and crush Garden 2!

See you guys on the other side!

    The Best Compliment Ever

Glad I stumbled upon this video:

I've never really watched anyone watch our show before.

I know we don't always hit the ball, even when it seems so perfectly planted on the tee; but I thought this was an amazingly weird moment on television and I'm glad people are enjoying it was much as we did. Makes me really want to fight for a larger live studio audience. I wish more of the viewers could come, hang out, watch the show unfold inches in front of them. For now, the feedback we get will have to do. And please know it's greatly appreciated.

    Again, had to share.

    What do you think?

If you've got a spare second or two, I'd love for you to read this blog post (WS) over at Gawker and let me know what you think. I truly love reading all of your comments on the site, and hearing your perspective on things; and this post intrigues me for multiple reasons.

Thanks in advance for taking the time, if you choose to do so.

    And thanks for reading.

    UPDATE:

(There have been some fantastic responses so far. I'm debating whether or not a discussion like this belongs on AOTS in any way; perhaps as a Loop. It may be too serious, too off the show's traditionally beaten path; but I think that's half of the appeal at the moment. Hmm...)

    I Love You, Internets.

I had to share this. I wouldn't be a good friend if I didn't. Make sure you send this to someone you love, or someone who gets REALLY grossed out by videos where people get their eyelids jabbed with syringes. WARNING: In this video, "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me" can be heard in the background. I highly recommend sensitive surfers mute their speakers. Enjoy!

    The Best Fans Ever!

First off, greetings from my iPhone! The WordPress application is, this far, absolutely amazing!

Now onto the point of this blog. When G4 wrapped its' Comicon coverage and I was being rushed out of the hall by a crack squad of elite eighteen-year-old security guards, a fan hastily brandished a wine bottle from a messenger bag and thrust it towards me. I was startled at first (mostly because sudden movements upset my vagina) but upon further inspection I noticed this was the sweetest wine bottle ever!

The guy, who's card was sadly lost in a soggy jean pocket, was with Xena Etched Graphics. I've been meaning to shout out their amazing work since being handed this awesome gift. The quality of the etching and coloring is stunning in person; simply phenominal stuff.

Just thought I'd share. And in the process I realized the WP iphone app is missing linking and photo-placement options. Ugh. Oh well, here's to the next version!
